1989

Jacob Wetterling abducted


Site Where Jacob Wetterling was Abducted

1990

Friends of Jacob founded by Jerry and Patty Wetterling and friends.

Circle of Volunteers

Name changed to Jacob Wetterling Foundation, hosts first national conference for families of abducted children, Law Enforcement, and volunteers.

Jacob Wetterling Act passed.

Jacob Wetterling Act Passed

6 Million missing persons flyers and brochures distributed.

Jerry Wetterling begins annual Trek fundraiser for JWF. This Trek raised over $203k between 1994-2018

2000

JWF begins Online Safety Community Education for children and adults.

24 hour Victim Assistance Hotline: (800) 325-HOPE established.

Amber Alert Act passed in MN.

Family Gathering Retreat honors 10 years of families and loved ones of missing or murdered persons coming together for support and hope. JWRC continues to host the Family Gathering Retreat each year.

2010

Over 10,000 calls for assistance/support received by the now renamed Jacob Wetterling Resource Center.

JWRC officially partners with like-minded organizations to strengthen the mission of building a better world for children.

 

Jacob Wetterling recovered deceased. 11 For Jacob movement begins, encouraging communities to emulate positive traits that Jacob believed in.

JWRC Staff continues to assist families with missing persons and child exploitation cases, as well as provide prevention education in schools and communities.

First annual Running HOME for Jacob brings together over 2,000 children, families, and community members to raise awareness and support loved ones missing and exploited persons.

2019

JWRC joins Zero Abuse Project, working together to build a better future for children and adult survivors of abuse.


2020

JWRC honors 30 years of helping kids, families, and communities in Minnesota and beyond.
