Course Description

In this workshop, students receive an overview of the use of religion in justifying slavery, segregation and other oppressive practices. Students will also see the seeds of these teachings in modern day conspiracy theories. Armed with this knowledge, students will receive practical suggestions for addressing this aspect of historical trauma.

Learning Objectives

1. Obtain an overview of the use of religion in justifying slavery, segregation and other oppressive practices.

2. Recognize the seeds of historic teachings and conduct in modern conspiracy theories and other practices.

3. Gain practical suggestions for addressing this aspect of historical trauma in working with individuals and communities.
