Washington, D.C. (August 13, 2019) – Zero Abuse Project CEO Jeff Dion today released the following statement regarding Safe Horizon launching a public awareness campaign and PSA series to inform child sex abuse survivors in New York of their new rights under the Child Victims Act.

“We are grateful for the tireless work of Safe Horizon and the many other great organizations who were unwavering in their advocacy for the passage of the Child Victims Act over the past decade. Their hard work and persistence have paid off, and now thousands of survivors in New York can choose to come forward, seek justice, hold accountable predators and the institutions who covered for them, and set off down a path of healing.

“We also applaud Safe Horizon for recognizing that the work is far from over. They have now committed to making sure survivors are aware of the new law and are working to ensure that they know their rights to seek justice. The public awareness campaign that Safe Horizon kicked off today in Times Square is critically important in the efforts to educate survivors, ensure the maximum uptake of the law, and protect kids from future abuse. We are committed to continuing to work with them to create a world where kids live free from abuse.”
