
Mike Valente
Director, Communications
Biography
Mike Valente brings more than 15 years of experience in both the victim services and media fields, and currently serves as the Director of Communications for Zero Abuse Project. In this role, he leads and implements the team’s communications strategy and works to steer the flow of information between the organization, partner agencies, media outlets, and the public at large.
Previously, Mike worked at the National Center for Victims of Crime in Washington, DC, where he managed a vast network of attorney members and affiliates providing counsel to survivors across all walks of life. He helped build and market training seminars and conferences designed to educate victim service providers in legal resources available through the civil justice system, and traveled across the country to provide mental health professionals, advocates and more with the tools they need to better serve their communities.
In addition to his time in victim services, Mike also worked extensively in the media landscape of Washington, DC and New York City, where he wrote, produced, directed, and marketed award-winning content for television, documentary film, live events, social media, and advertising agencies. Mike led teams on and off the set, organized the social media for various projects, and developed relationships with the media to create and distribute new programming all over the world.
Mike obtained his BA in Law from University of Delaware, and his MA in Producing Film & Video from American University.
