Destination Imagination (DI) is a global educational nonprofit dedicated to inspiring the next generation of innovators, leaders, and creative problem solvers. At Destination Imagination, we believe that when an educational experience is hands-on, collaborative and fun, students are empowered to take their learning to the next level and are excited to do so.
DI provides unique educational experiences across seven project-based Challenge types–Technical, Scientific, Engineering, Fine Arts, Improvisational, Service Learning, and Early Learning. Students work with an adult team manager, who guides the process and empowers students to take the lead, giving students a framework within which they can take risks and learn from failure.
In 2019, DI partnered with the Jacob Wetterling Resource Center to provide information and support as we worked to create a culture of youth protection and safety. The information provided by the Jacob Wetterling Resource Center allowed us to develop an internal training course for our adult team leaders and leadership volunteers to help them recognize grooming and abusive behaviors and to know what to do if one of their team members was in danger. More than 5,000 adults completed our youth protection course in the last half of 2019!
