When do I have to decide to file a civil case?

Answer

Laws vary state by state but this is what we tell survivors. The best time to come forward is when you are ready because no one can tell you or force you to disclose your abuse until you are ready and until you were healed. So take your time take a deep breath and get the healing you deserve but do some research. You may live in a state that has a civil window and may have a deadline for you to come forward. So be sure that you don’t miss out on very important deadlines in certain states. Make sure that you do your due diligence and make sure that there may be deadlines in your state that may take away some rights after a certain amount of time has passed.
